How to use reusable under-eye patches

Apply a thin layer of eye cream or serum, place the patches on top for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse them and store them in their box. Here is how to get the most from every use.

Why it works

A thin layer of silicone over your eye cream slows down evaporation. Your product stays on your skin instead of drying off, so your skin has longer to absorb it. This is called occlusion, and it is why a little cream goes further under a patch. It is also why we suggest gentle, hydrating products: whatever is under the silicone will feel more intense.

Before you start

  • Start with clean, dry skin.
  • Have your eye cream, gel or serum ready. Light, hydrating textures work best.
  • If you are trying a new product, patch test it on a small area first. Silicone keeps your product close to the skin, so anything you use will feel more intense.

Step by step

  1. Apply a thin layer of product

A pea-sized amount of eye cream or serum for both eyes is enough. Too much can make the patches slide.

  2. Wait a few seconds

Let the product turn slightly tacky. This helps the patches settle and stay put.

  3. Place the patches

Lay each patch under your eye, wider end towards the outer corner, and press gently from the centre out.

  4. Relax for 10 to 20 minutes

Read, answer emails, do your make-up. The thin silicone moves with your face, so you can carry on with your morning.

  5. Peel and pat

Lift the patches from the outer edge and pat any remaining product into your skin with your ring finger.

Cleaning and storing

  1. Rinse the patches under warm water with a drop of mild, fragrance-free soap.
  2. Rub gently with your fingertips to remove any product.
  3. Rinse again, shake off the water and let them air-dry, or pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
  4. Place them back in the mirror box and keep the box in its velvet pouch.

Avoid hot water, alcohol and oil-based cleansers, which can wear the silicone over time.

Which products work best

Water-light gels, hyaluronic serums and lightweight eye creams pair beautifully with the patches. We'd avoid exfoliating acids and strong retinoids under silicone, as keeping them on the skin can make them more irritating.

When to use them

  • In the morning, while you have your coffee, before make-up.
  • After a short night or a long flight.
  • Before an event, a meeting or a photo.
  • In the evening, as part of a quiet ten minutes for yourself.

Many of our customers use them daily; a few times a week works well too.

Tips for the best fit

  • Patches slipping? Use less product, or wait a few seconds longer before applying.
  • Patches not sticking at all? Make sure there is a thin layer of product underneath; silicone holds best on a slightly tacky surface.
  • Keeping their shape. Store them flat in the box.

Please stop using the patches if your skin becomes red, sore or itchy, and don't use them on broken or irritated skin. If you have a known silicone allergy, they are not for you.
